Being Your Mama

Today is my first Mother’s Day, and it’s the perfect time to reflect on how it’s been so far. Let me tell you, motherhood is AMAZING. Yes, it can be challenging, tiring, sometimes stressful. But I truly wouldn’t have it any other way. I really can’t imagine life without you. You brighten up my day with your big smile and constant laughter. You make me want to be a better person, a better friend, a better mom. I know I can be rough around the edges and I am continually learning how to be a mom, but you have been so patient with me.

I’ve always wanted to be a mom, ever since I could remember. But, honestly with the trajectory of how my life was going, I didn’t know if I’d ever have that opportunity. I’m so grateful that life led me to your dad, who wanted to be a dad just as much as I wanted to be a mom. Here we are, the luckiest parents on earth!

Although my pregnancy was pretty rough and the labor and delivery experience was very traumatic, I vividly remember when they were pulling you out and I first laid my eyes on you. In that moment I knew that life was going to be so amazing with you in it.

These last 6 months have gone by so unbelievably fast. Everyone kept telling me - kids grow up so fast, in the blink of an eye. I just didn’t realize what that truly meant until I had you. Every day you amaze me. You’re constantly learning, observing, exploring. Literally overnight you get bigger and suddenly have a new learned skill! It’s crazy, and yet so cool to witness. I’m so excited to see just how much you grow over these next 6 months.

Son, you’re the light of my life. You’re my partner in crime. The peanut butter to my jelly. My absolute dream come true. Being your mama is the greatest honor of my life. I love you son.
